Renowned Irish abstract artist Patrick Scott was born in Kilbrittain, Co. Cork in 1921. He began a career as an architect but quickly found his way to the world of art.  Scott has painted full-time since 1960, and his works have been exhibited worldwide and are in many public and private collections, including the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, Dublin; Ulster Museum, Belfast; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Irish Museum of Modern Art. He has had many tapestry commissions, from among others, the Bank of Ireland; the European Parliament, Strasbourg; and St. Paul's School, London.

IACI Heritage Award to Kilmainham Gaol
Kilmainham Gaol, one of Ireland's most revered historic sites, was awarded the IACI's Heritage Award, a $5,000 award of support.  The prison was built in 1796 and has been a witness to Ireland's turbulent passage from the late eighteenth to early twentieth century, Kilmainham is one of Dublin's most visited Heritage sites. Prisoners from the United Irish Rebellion of 1796, the Emmet Rebellion of 1803, the Great Famine of 1845 to 1851, the Young Ireland Rebellion of 1848,  the Fenian Rebellion of 1867, the Land War of the 1880s, the Easter Rising of 1916, the War of Independence and the Irish Civil War were held and often executed here. This award is made possible, in part, by generous support from Tourism Ireland and the Heritage Council of Ireland.

IACI grants Muriel Gahan Scholarship to Royal Dublin Society
The Royal Dublin Society (RDS) National Crafts Competition has been held annually since 1968 to promote Irish craft and design.
